How to sync a Garmin activity with GoPro footage

GoPro cameras with GPS record the exact time in the video. Your Garmin records GPS time too. So when the camera has a GPS fix, the two line up very closely with no effort.

The steps

1. Turn on GPS in the camera, and let it get a fix outside before you start.
2. Add the clips and the FIT file to Framemetry.
3. Check the note beside the clip says it was synced by GPS time.

With no GPS fix

Framemetry falls back to the camera's clock, which can be off by seconds or more, then tries to correct it from the movement in the picture. If there's no clear match, use a clear moment like setting off, and nudge the sync until the numbers match the picture.
